Equal Pay Chicago Coalition
The Equal Pay Chicago Coalition focuses on the experiences of women who often face much wider wage pay gaps due to the compounding effects of gender and racial discrimination.
By amplifying the voices of those affected and promoting dialogue among stakeholders, the coalition the Equal Pay Chicago Coalition aims to forge a future where pay equity is the norm, and individuals are fairly compensated regardless of their gender, race, or any other protected characteristic, setting a precedent for other communities and regions to follow suit.
Know Your Rights
Everyone deserves to be paid fairly. But women in the U.S. who work full-time, year-round are paid only 84 cents on average for every dollar paid to men. And when you include both full- and part-time workers, the average woman makes just 78 cents to a man’s dollar. The barriers are greater for Women of Color, who have even wider wage gaps due to both gender and racial bias, and for women in low-paid jobs who are struggling to make ends meet.
